Origins of roulette

One of my favourite things about playing at Llanbikefest is being able to try games that I would be intimidated by in the land based casinos. Roulette was always one of those games that I really wanted to play, but my lack of knowledge about how the game worked, and the seemingly vast number of bets, made it one that I always skipped.

Thanks to Llanbikefest, I was able to learn the ins and outs of the game by using the free play feature, which gave me the confidence to try it for real. I love roulette now, but have always wondered where the game originated, so decided to do a little research.

I assumed the game, given its name, meaning “little wheel” in French, originated in France, but the true origins are up for argument. Some say that it was invented in 17th century France by a mathematician named Blaise Pascal, while others claim that it was brought back to Europe by Dominican monks who discovered the game being played in China.

Whatever the case, by the late 18th century the game had become very popular, with Prince Charles of Monaco using it as a way to try and alleviate the financial problems of his region. The game as we know it today didn’t appear until 1842, with Francois and Louis Blanc devising the single “0” game. When roulette crossed the waters to the US, a “00” was added, and the two versions of the game still exist to this day.

Thankfully, you don’t have to cross the pond to play both versions as they can both be found here at Llanbikefest, so come give the wheel a spin.

Keno – guidelines and tips

There are hundreds of great games to choose from here at Llanbikefest, and while everyone is familiar with the traditional slots and table games, there are a few more available that may not be so well known to everyone. Keno is one of those, and if you haven’t played before, you really don’t know what you are missing. The games come quickly, meaning that if you miss the start of a round, you won’t have to wait long for a new one to begin.

The rules are extremely straightforward, and it’s almost like a combination between bingo and the lottery. Players get to choose between 1 and 20 numbers from a card that has 80 numbers in rows of 10. 20 numbers are then drawn, one at a time, at random, with the goal being to cover as many of your chosen numbers as possible. You are then paid out based on how many of your numbers were landed on, and in some cases if none were chosen, but that only usually occurs if you have selected a lot of numbers.

The game is completely random, so adopting a strategy becomes virtually impossible, but if you decide that Keno is a game that you would like to play regularly, then there are a couple of things that you can do to make it a little more fun. The first thing to do is check and see what the odds are for all winning combinations, and pick the play that gives you the best chance of winning, combined with good odds. I’ve found that playing a 4-spot (you select 4 numbers) provides the best shot at a decent return.

You will win make your money back if 2, 3 or all of your numbers are hit, and can usually hit often enough so that you don’t ever get completely wiped out. I’d also suggest sticking to the same numbers every time, as that seems to have worked best for me, rather than trying to figure out which are hot and cold. Keno is a great way to pass some time when you are between games, so check it out next time you are logged in to Llanbikefest.

Hitman slot game

Everyone who loves slots usually picks their favourite games based on the look, the bonuses and, of course, the size of the jackpot. There is another thing that can come into play when choosing a favourite game, and that is often the theme of the slot. Everything from sports, to season, to comic books have been used as a theme, and one of the most popular ones has proven to be movies.

That may explain why the Hitman slot machine has become so popular here at Llanbikefest. There is something very welcoming about seeing our favourite characters and symbols on the reels, and it helps that the game is as bad as the titular character.

Hitman is a 5-reel, 15-payline slot with a maximum jackpot of 4,000, with a 2nd jackpot of 2,000. Players of all bankrolls can get in on the fun here, with denominations ranging from a penny, all the way up to 25 cents. You can claim many more high priced bounties by playing the bonus games that will pop up every now and again, but first a look at the awesome graphics.

Agent 47 is, as you would expect, the WILD symbol, but there are a ton of other items that fans of the original video game will get a kick out of. There’s the Hitman logo, plus all of his favourite tools of the trade, like guns, knives and syringes, but another one to look out for is the mini computer.

That triggers the Contract Bonus Game which can lead to a bumper payout of 270,000 coins.

Hitman is a ton of fun, so my advice is to launch a sneak attack on your computer and try to assassinate that bumper jackpot, making sure that you don’t bite the bullet in the process.

History of online gambling

When you measure the time that online casinos have been around against the thousands of years that gambling has existed, it’s easy to understand why the online version is still considered to be in its infancy. The strides made in such a short time though have propelled the internet casino from child to legitimate contender for the gambling crown in a matter of years, and it’s interesting to look back at the short, yet storied history of the online casino.

It’s hard to believe that an industry that is now so huge began in the tiny island of Antigua in 1994. They passed a law that allowed it to issue gambling licenses, and the fledgling online casino operations hopped on board. Microgaming, who incidentally makes the casino software that powers Llanbikefest, were the first to open a fully operational online casino, which would prove to be just the first of many major developments in the casino industry that they would be responsible for.

That first casino offered games, but considerably less than the hundreds now available on PP. Despite that it became an instant hit with gamblers looking for a convenient way to play their favourite games. There were some initial worries about security and fairness, but that was taken care of in 2003 when eCogra, and independent organization charged with making sure that casinos followed a strict set of rules, was formed, and only those casinos considered the most safe and fair were given the eCogra seal of approval; of course, Llanbikefest is one of those select few.

Modern casinos now have the same sort of encryption security used by banks, and with revenues annually in the billions, it’s safe to say that the online casino has been embraced by the playing public and is here to stay.
Microgaming continues to be at the forefront of creating new games and rules that help make the online experience even better and safer for players from all over the world, and that’s just one more reason to make Llanbikefest your casino of choice.

Thunderstruck II arrives…

Of course, one of the other big pulls to this event was the introduction of a great new slot game. That’s right, Thunderstruck II made its debut as a super-slot follow-up, both to the still-popular original Thunderstruck video slot, and as the new game of choice for big slot tournament finales. This game takes players back to the days of Norse mythology and yore, as well as hammer-slamming rewards with the Grand Slam of Slots 2.
